Healthy Eating

An important part of being an accredited Healthy School, is the approach taken to healthy eating. Pupils learn about healthy eating and the benefits of having a balanced diet through lessons and activites in school. Children are encouraged to bring in a piece of fresh fruit on a daily basis to eat at morning breaks and to have access to fresh water during the day.
Last year, a new school dinner provider was appointed. Edwards and Ward take a keen interest in providing children with a balanced, healthy meal and much of the produce used in the preparation is sourced locally in Somerset. Fresh meat is also used instead of frozen or reformed meat and there is also plenty of choice for vegetarians. If your child currently has packed lunches remember you do not need to opt for a whole week of school meals, maybe try school lunches a couple of days per week. Cost is £1.90 per day. If you wish to pay by cheque please make the cheque payable to North Somerset Council. You are also welcome to pay in advance.
