Music

All children at High Down have a rich musical experience whatever their level of ability or experience as instrumentalists, singers or listeners. There are opportunities for all children to learn to play musical instruments: guitar brass, strings and woodwind.

All Year 3 pupils are taught to play both violin and recorder!

We encourage and foster creativity and pleasure in music, both as music makers and audience and promote communicative and collaborative skills through class and year group performances and a range of extra-curricular groups inc choirs, wind band and string orchestra.

Children can also take formal Grading exams via their music teacher. Further details can be found at the North Somerset Music Service website. as well as information about buying instruments on the Government assisted purchase scheme for those having lessons in school.
